Our Story
ABOUT DIAMOND ARM LAB
Built by a Former Major League Athletic Trainer
Diamond Arm Lab was created by Matt Toth, a sports medicine professional with 19 years in professional baseball. For 8 years, Matt served as Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Seattle Mariners, where he worked directly with elite pitchers, implemented evidence-based arm care protocols, and helped prevent career-ending injuries at the highest level of the game.
That experience revealed something that still drives everything we do. Youth pitchers and their families have virtually no access to the professional-grade workload tracking and injury prevention tools that MLB teams use every single day. Tommy John surgeries in youth baseball have skyrocketed. Kids are throwing year-round without objective data about how much stress their arms are under. Parents feel helpless. Coaches make decisions based on feel, not data. By the time an injury happens, it's too late.
Why This Matters
The science is clear. We know how to prevent most throwing-related injuries in young athletes. We know which workloads are safe. We know which recovery protocols work. We know how to spot overuse risk before the arm breaks down.
But that knowledge is locked inside MLB clubhouses and college athletic training rooms. It doesn't reach the millions of youth baseball players in America.
Diamond Arm Lab changes that.
Our Mission
We give parents and coaches the data they need to make smarter decisions about throwing workload, recovery, and sustainable development. We track what matters: acute:chronic workload ratio (ACWR). That's the same metric MLB organizations use to predict overuse risk weeks in advance. We analyze throwing mechanics with AI-powered video feedback so you can see what's actually happening in your pitcher's delivery. We provide evidence-based recovery programs backed by sports medicine research.
Most importantly, we give you visibility. You'll know when your pitcher is approaching risk. You'll know when rest is needed. You'll have objective feedback about throwing patterns.
Our Philosophy: Development Over Velocity
Here's what we believe. A durable arm that stays healthy through high school and into college is worth more than a hard-throwing 12-year-old who's injured by 14.
We've seen it happen too many times. Kids who dominated at youth levels, threw everything they had, trained year-round without data. By the time they're teenagers, their shoulders are shot. Surgery. Never the same.
Development means progressive overload. It means recovery. It means understanding that a 10-year-old's arm is not a smaller version of an adult arm. It means patience.
Diamond Arm Lab is built around that philosophy.
Why Trust Diamond Arm Lab?
Built by actual MLB experience. This isn't a generic fitness app. It's built by someone who's spent years in professional baseball and understands the real stakes.
Science-backed, not guesswork. ACWR tracking is validated research with decades of sports medicine support. Our alerts are based on evidence.
Made for parents and coaches. Complex biomechanics are translated into plain language. When we tell you your pitcher is in the yellow zone, you understand what that means and what to do about it.
Privacy and safety first. Your child's data is your child's data. We comply with COPPA regulations for youth privacy. Your videos are encrypted.
A complement, not a replacement. Diamond Arm Lab works alongside good coaching and proper medical care, not instead of it.
